Just so we're clear...
The cat stool next to Lukas is Ember's (our black cat), and Lukas is sitting on his cat stool.
Lukas is watching the rain because it's outside.
Lukas declared all this to me this morning several times, so I thought I'd share. :) I love toddler logic!

Adenoidectomy
On Friday (3-6-09) Lukas had surgery to remove his adenoids. We were told to arrive at 11:30am, and Lukas was to have no food after midnight and no drink after 5:30. Basically this meant that he wasn't going to be able to have food or drink after he woke up in the morning. We anticipated this to be a great struggle, but it didn't turn out to be near so tough a battle. Whenever he got fussy, we just distracted him and then he took a nap. His surgery took place at Texas Pediactric Surgery Center. This is the second time he's had surgery there (ear tubes in September was the first), and I was again impressed. The staff is so nice, and effecient yet accomodating where they can be. The surgery took about 25 min, and we had another 30-45 min of recovery. Everything went without a hitch, and he came out of anethesia smoothly. We came home and he slept for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. He then ate dinner of applesauce, jello, and yogurt. His mood has been pretty normal, but tired and hyper. I think he's hyper to try and cover up the fact that he doesn't feel good. Thank you for all your prayers, and hopefully this will be the end of his "medical issues".

Just plain cute!!
Proof that, yes, that evening he was acting fairly normal.

Morning Pick-Me-Up
Lukas will be all decked out in Elmo today with an Elmo shirt and shoes. He also put on his own shirt this morning (okay, I put it on his head, but he put his arms in all by himself)! He was very proud.

22 Months!
Health update: Lukas has had a huge sinus infection since about Christmas. He is currently on his third round of antibiotics for a total medicated time of about 7 weeks (or it will be when this current round is over in a week). We saw the ENT last Thursday, and have scheduled to remove his adenoids. Apparently the bacteria is trapped back behind his adenoids and can't clear out. We've scheduled his adenoidectomy for March 6.
Lukas at 22 months:
- weighs about 24.6 lbs
- is taller (had to buy new pants) but I don't have an exact measurement
- will read all books willingly and gently
- listens most of the time (he is a toddler)
- loves animals, cars, balls, books, puzzles, letters, little people, Sesame Street (especially Elmo) and music
- commuicates very effectively in one and two word sentences
- knows all his letters by sight, although he may or may not tell you when you ask
- can count to 6 (although he only does it when he thinks no one is listening)
- thinks wearing a belt to keep his pants up has made him a "big boy"
- is very polite
- loves to help
- prefers to be non-confrontational, only declaring his exclusive rights to something when no one else would take it anyway
- loves to play
- thinks school is the best place on earth
- loves his Mommy and Daddy more and more every day!

Happy Valentines Day!
Being silly in pajamas is always fun!
Daddy and Lukas with Lukas' valentine to Mommy.
I only thought Lukas got the balloon for me. ;) I give it a couple days until he pops it.
Lukas would like to say, "Happy Valentines Day!" to all his favorite people.
